19th National Machine Design Festival Opens

The 19th National Machine Design Festival opened with due ceremony at the Okryu Exhibition House in the DPRK on October 24. Present there were officials, designers, teachers, researchers, technicians and three-revolution team members from over 80 units across the country. On display there were hundreds of designs of machinaries and equipment and production processes which are of practical significance in revitalizing production and attaining the goals for readjustment and reinforcment in the major sectors of the national economy and modernizing regional-industry factories and operating them on a normal basis and over 200 products and models. During the festival there will be a multi-dimensional design contest, technical presentation and prize contest of design support programs focused on putting the design on a scientific basis of a high level. Present at the opening ceremony were Minister of Machine-building Industry An Kyong Gun, officials concerned and officials and working people of the exhibited units. Vice-Premier Yang Sung Ho made an opening address. At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the venue of the festival. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
