New villages built in Kosong County of Kangwon Province

Article Content

New houses were built at the Pongjuk and Sunhak farms in Kosong County, Kangwon Province. The farm villages at the foot of Mt Kumgang, where low- and single-storey dwelling houses of various forms were built and hundreds of trees and flowering shrubs were planted, show the true picture of rural rejuvenation in the era of the Workers’ Party. A ceremony for moving into new houses took place at the Pongjuk Farm in Kosong County on August 19. Attending the ceremony were officials of Kangwon Province and Kosong County, builders and agricultural workers who would move into new houses. Licences for the use of new houses were handed over to their owners and speeches were made at the ceremony. With the moving into new houses, a pleasant peasant dance and congratulatory performance took place and officials visited the owners of the new houses to share joy with them. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
