US vetoes UN resolution calling for ceasefire in Gaza again

Article Content

The US exercised its veto again against a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on September 18. The resolution presented by ten non-permanent member nations of the UN Security Council demands that an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire be achieved in the Gaza Strip and Israel do not prevent the supply of aid materials to the area. Among the UNSC members 14 countries voted on the resolution, but only the US vetoed it. Such a misconduct of the US has sparked a barrage of criticism and denunciation from the international community. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors.
