Russian FM warns against Japan’s moves toward militarization

Article Content

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, warned against Japan’s dangerous moves towards militarization at a press conference on November 27. Japan is turning Okinawa into a military base again by shipping US-made weapons with attack capability into the island as the US instructed, she said. Russia has the right to cope with Japan’s possible deployment of intermediate-range missiles in Okinawa, she emphasized. The Japanese prime minister’s remarks that the “three principles of denuclearization” can be reexamined assume provocative character and the practical measures to be taken in that direction will entail irreversible worldwide consequences in the field of strategic security, she said. She added that Japan’s policy for reviving militarism and its “reexamination of its obligation of denuclearization” will escalate tension in the Asia-Pacific region. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
