China urges Israel to implement ceasefire agreement

Article Content

The Chinese deputy permanent representative to the United Nations demanded Israel take action to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement at a UN General Assembly meeting deliberating on the Palestinian issue on December 2. He said that in the Gaza Strip there have occurred cases of violating the ceasefire agreement almost every day, with the result that casualties continue to increase among innocent civilians. China strongly urges Israel to fulfill its duty bound by international humanitarian law, open all border routes, cancel restrictions on the introduction of humanitarian materials and stop the construction of settlements in the West Bank, he said. He stressed that the international community should find realistic and viable ways for pushing forward with the two-state proposal and support Palestine to build an independent state and become a full member of the UN as early as possible.
