Soot recycling process set up at thermal power complex

The Pukchang Thermal Power Complex newly established a process for converting soot from the power production process into a raw material which is widely used in several fields of the national economy. After making and completing necessary facilities and structures by their own efforts and technology, the technical group of the complex ascertained the economic effectiveness of the material obtained through trial production, thereby providing a guarantee for ensuring the domestic production of aluminium hydroxide and silicon dioxide which are used in the production of medicines, dental hygiene supplies, ceramic, rubber, plastic, paper, etc. They also processed by-products from the process to make a kind of quality brick. The technical group is pushing at the final stage the research for collecting iron from soot and using it in producing steel materials. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
